Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is expected to tackle on Monday the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri during a television interview, An Nahar reported.

Nasrallah will discuss during the interview the disputed issues among the cabinet members.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stated that the Lebanese opposition is nearing its goals, criticizing sides that believe that opposition means occupying downtown Beirut, blocking roads, and stirring unrest.

He told Abu Dhabi’s al-Ittihad newspaper: “The real opposition is what we are doing today through following up on the government’s work and issuing positions on all that is being proposed in Lebanon.”

President Michel Suleiman has halted the decision to promote officers in all security institutions because of the objection over the promotion of the head of the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau Wissam al-Hassan, reported the daily An Nahar on Saturday.

Prominent March 14 sources told the daily that Suleiman froze the promotions at the behest of Hizbullah and Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun over their opposition to Hassan’s promotion.

The residents of the town of Tarshish in the Zahleh region prevented on Friday members of Hizbullah from expanding the party’s telecommunications network in the area, reported the daily An Nahar on Saturday.

It explained that party members sought to expand the network as a team from the Telecommunications Ministry was installing fiber optic cables to improve internet services.

Hizbullah on Friday congratulated Libyan revolutionaries on the capture and death of Moammar Gadhafi a day earlier on the outskirts of his hometown Sirte.

"Hizbullah congratulates the people of Libya on turning the page on more than four decades of tyrannical rule," read a statement released by the group.

The head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad stated on Friday that the Resistance is keen on finding solutions to disputes in Lebanon through national dialogue, which it believes is the only way to end the current political divide in the country.

He said during a seminar from Moscow: “The Resistance is not deluded in believing that it can singlehandedly rule a country, even if it was in a position of power.”

Energy Minister Jebran Bassil stressed that the bickering between the ministers loyal to Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun and Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblat confirms that the cabinet is not one-sided.

In remarks to An Nahar daily published Friday, Bassil said the dispute that raged between the two sides during the cabinet session on Wednesday “confirms the government is not one-sided and does not have a single policy.”

Russian ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin stressed on Thursday that his country’s stance on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri “hasn’t changed.”

“We participated in funding it, but we are against politicizing (the tribunal),” he told An Nahar newspaper.

General Prosecutor Saeed Mirza handed on Wednesday a monthly report on the search for the four suspects in the assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri to a delegation from the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, reported the National News Agency.

Four Hizbullah members, Salim Ayyash, Mustafa Badreddine, Hussein Oneissi, and Assad Sabra have been accused of being involved in the assassination.

A court in the Algerian capital Algiers is expected to look into the case of an Algerian money laundering network that includes a Lebanese investor accused by U.S. intelligence of funding Hizbullah, reported Algeria’s al-Khabar newspaper.

It said that 31 suspects face “heavy” charges related to money laundering, including the Lebanese national.
