Nasrallah: We won't tolerate any attack should there be a ceasefire in Gaza

Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday said that his group “will not tolerate any attack in Lebanon should there be a ceasefire in Gaza.”

“Should there be a ceasefire agreement, which we hope for, our front will undoubtedly cease fire, as happened during the previous truce,” Nasrallah announced in a televised speech commemorating slain Hezbollah commander Mohammad Nasser.

“Hamas is negotiating on behalf of the Palestinians and the entire Axis of Resistance and we would accept whatever it would accept,” Nasrallah noted.

Pointing out that “the Israelis are no longer speaking of a major war on Hezbollah or Lebanon,” Nasrallah said “Israel has lowered the ceiling of its objectives regarding Lebanon.”

“World powers are now telling the Israelis that ceasing fire in Gaza would lead to a ceasefire in Lebanon,” Nasrallah said.

Commenting on Israeli threats against Lebanon, Hezbollah’s leader said “the resistance that fires hundreds of rockets and dozens of drones in one day (in response to an assassination) does not fear war.”

Hezbollah since October has traded almost daily cross-border fire from Lebanon with the Israeli army in support of Palestinian ally Hamas.

The cross-border violence since October 8 has killed nearly 500 people in Lebanon, mostly fighters but also including 95 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

On the Israeli side, at least 29 people have been killed, the majority of them soldiers, according to Israeli authorities.
