Mikati says only state should carry arms

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Thursday that only the state should carry weapons, as he pushed for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

"Lebanese authorities must deploy over (all) Lebanese territory and weapons should be carried only by the state and the Lebanese army," Mikati said on the sidelines of a Lebanon aid conference in Paris, without explicitly calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah, the only group that did not lay down its arms after the end of the Lebanese civil war.

Enough cowardice running away from reality. It is a disgrace that 2 of Hizbollah appointees, Berri and Miquati represent Lebanon in this crisis. To be clear; after Hizbollah being exposed as nothing but a criminal Iranian Brigade willing to destroy Lebanon to benefit Iranian tyrants, having sucked the life of our economy & democracy for past 20 years, invaded our institutions, stored ammunitions among residences, bankrupted & isolated us, assassinated Hariri and dozen others; the first step politicians & army must take is implementing UN 1556 & 1680. No other discussions or aid prior to liberating Country & Shia community from this curse. Every day HizbIran not disarmed causes more destruction & losses that neither Hizb or Berri will fix. Army must disarm HizbIran now. If help needed, thousands of volunteer will eagerly join to get rid of this cancer. As to phony Berri, he represents the Basij that would have killed Imam Saddr if still alive as they did since Green Revolution.

The stored ammunitions in Dahieh were meant to be used against the Lebanese, the front with Israel is much too far. That's how they came out instantly on May 7 to 14 2008, in Khalde and Ain El Remmaneh.

Since 2011 Hezbollah is the state, what he said doesn't mean anything. He should be calling for the return to the 1949 armistice agreement. It covers everything including the border demarcation and the issues of Ghajar, Shebaa Farms and the hills around Kfarchouba.

A racist state such as Lebanon (Article 24 set-aside of half of parliamentary seats to Christians) is not a state since it is not based on law.
