In Maarab, Connelly Urges Insulating Lebanon from 'Effects of Syria Violence'

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly on Friday said “the United States calls on all parties to work together to insulate Lebanon from the effects of the violence in Syria resulting from the Assad regime’s brutal crackdown on the Syrian people.”

Geagea: Aoun's Visit to Our Lady of Elige is Unwise

Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea blasted on Monday Free Patriotic Movement Leader MP Michel Aoun's cancelled visit to Our Lady of Elige Church, considering it “unwise” and accusing Aoun of ignoring the historical symbolism the tombs represent.

In a conversation with media representatives in Maarab after meeting with al-Mustaqbal Movement MP Ahmad Fatfat in MP Antoine Zahra's presence, Geagea wished Aoun had arranged his visit after consulting the LF and the martyrs' parents.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stated on Friday that the government proposal over the parliamentary electoral law and the one suggested by the MPs Georges Adwan, Sami Gemayel, and Butros Harb are the best current offers on the matter, saying that the Free Patriotic Movement has to choose one of them.

Geagea Says Postponement of 2013 Elections Out of Question

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea revealed on Thursday that his party is expected to submit a proposal before the joint parliamentary committees concerning the new electoral law, reiterating that the postponement of the 2013 parliamentary elections is out of the question.

“We have been preparing a new electoral law to forward it (to parliament) with our allies,” Geagea said in comments published in al-Akhbar newspaper.
