Qassem says Hezbollah ready for both peace and war

Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem said in speech broadcast Sunday to mark Ashoura’s last day that his group will “continue the resistance” and “will not be part of legitimizing occupation in Lebanon.”
“We will not accept a humiliating normalization … and these people do not accept disgrace and surrender,” Qassem stressed.
“The threat with a new agreement (with Israel) does not make us accept capitulation and the aggression must be rather asked to stop,” Hezbollah’s leader added.
Noting that Israel must first “implement the (ceasefire) agreement’s terms, withdraw from occupied territory, halt its aggression and allow for reconstruction to begin,” Qassem said Hezbollah would then be willing to “discuss national security and the defense strategy.”
“We have enough flexibility to reach consensus,” he added.
“America’s equation asking us to choose between being killing or surrender does not concern us and we will cling to our rights,” Qassem went on to say.
“In the name of Hezbollah, I declare that we are ready for both choices -- for peace, building the country and engaging in utmost cooperation for revival and stability, and also for confrontation and defense. We are people who cannot be defeated and we will not give up our dignity and rights,” he added.

This is the entire point of Peace. Qassem must be ready for peace with the Lebanese citizens and be ready to serve the country how and when called upon by the of the duly elected President.
Not when called upon by Iranians .. not when called upon by a Shia MP .. not when called upon by a Speaker of Parliament or a Prime minister .. not when called upon by a clergyman or circumstance.
Unless and until the President calls upon Qassem to join the LAF, to pick-up a gun (or a ladle or a sack of materiel), Qassem and any still following his pronouncements are mere residents in Lebanon expected to obey Lebanese law, live in peace and harmony with neighbors, and to contribute positively to building wealth in Lebanese household. Other adventures in foreign affairs are either a vacation visit somewhere or simply wrong.
