Hochstein says Israel-Lebanon land border demarcation 'within reach'

W460

Former U.S. special envoy Amos Hochstein has said that a land border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel is "within reach."

Hochstein told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, in remarks published Friday, that a deal is possible "but there has to be political willingness".

Hochstein said that communication with Hezbollah was "complicated" when he negotiated the maritime border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel through shutter diplomacy. He said he never had only one Hezbollah interlocutor, but added that the reality today is different as Hezbollah has lost the power it had back then.

"There has to be political willingness". Is the Government of the Republic of Lebaon willing to sit down face to face with the Israeli Government to sort things out? That is the question.
