Report: Jack Joins ISIL as Extremists Continue to Recruit Tripoli's Youth

Security forces are pursuing a Lebanese Christian who is allegedly affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), fearing that he might be used to carry out a dangerous terrorist act in Lebanon.

According to As Safir newspaper published on Thursday, security forces called the 28-year-old outlaw “Jack”.

Jack hails from an Orthodox family that resides in al-Zahiriya in the northern city of Tripoli and had recently traveled to Turkey from where he headed to Syria and pledged allegiance to ISIL, the newspaper quoted his brother as saying in his testimony to the army.

A security source voiced fear that Jack could be “tasked with carrying out a terrorist act in Lebanon by using his Christian ID,” similarly to Elie Warraq, also known as Abu Ali, who has converted to Islam and was plotting to enter the Casino with his ID and carry out a suicide bombing.

Warraq was arrested in January.

Investigations, according to the report, are focusing on the relation between Warraq and Jack, who disappeared after the army intelligence arrested Abu Ali.

Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) later on Thursday reported that Jack was killed in Syria's Raqqa.

He was committed to his religion, sources told the newspaper. However, he began meeting with Islamist extremists in Tripoli's notorious inner markets before he disappeared.

He reportedly visited Turkey twice, where he met with ISIL officials and underwent military training. He then returned to Lebanon to inform his parents that he converted to Islam and headed to Syria via Turkey again.

Turkey has been previously accused by its Western allies of failing to do enough to stop jihadists crossing into Syria from its territory.

Jack's family tried to convince him to return to Lebanon after he resided in Syria, but he refused, stressing that he chose Islam as his religion.

The daily obtained information that another Christian, who also hails from Tripoli, could have pledged allegiance to ISIL. But he remains under surveillance as his whereabouts are known.

The newspaper continued that the extremist organizations are taking advantage of their poor financial conditions to recruit them.

“Around 400 youths have been recruited in the north to join extremists,” sources said, pointing out that they are leaving their homes in complete secrecy.

In the past two weeks, several young men headed to Iraq to join ISIL, including Aa.Aa., who hails from the northern district of Dinniyeh.

Humble, NO Christian should join either Hezbollah or the Sunni radicals, not one of them. In the current absence of real Christian leadership, the best thing any Christian should do is stay away, especially that grumpy old man Aoun the claoun the imbecilic leader of another imbecilic party known as the FPM. The best thing that could happen to us is the emergence of a strong leadership, but then, how could that happen when Geagea stifles the LF from sourcing better leaders than him, or that Claoun and his circus party the FPM? As I said, for the time being, it's best to stay away, hoping the Kataeb will pull itself through under a new leadership and well away from Amin Gemayel's.

First, I hope this evil sod of Jack was truly killed as reported by some media, two he did not join Islam as his religion, Islam has NO dealings with such evil people, Islam like Christianity is a religion of peace. If Jack wanted to shift to Islam because for peaceful reasons why not? But evil is using Islam as a cover, then only a person who is frail up there would join such an evil group as IS, no sane or rightful thinking person would do that, no one. In the West there are scores of social failures who've found a reason to direct their frustration and failures for a glory duped on their weak brains, lest we forget, Satan the devil preys on such weak people and never on the strong. The Turkey, now under the rule of Islamic radicals like Erdogan, when will this Turkey stop supporting evil, when IS turns against it and its citizens?

Nothing new, many Christians infused with anti western doctrines were joining leftists goups during the civil war to fight the kataeb, LF etc, some of these Christians went as far as becoming Muslim under a romantic notion that this make them closer to the cause.

Thumb -phoenix1 26 February 2015, 13:33

Michel you're perfectly right. I remember having captured quite a few of these brainwashed people during a battle at the Sodeco front, Christians who not only fought against us and who converted to Islam for romantic reasons, but also those who joined the Communist and Socialist parties. Man, they fought were like crazed dogs and when captured it was as if they were possessed by evil. One of them a communist even wore that that made him look like Che Guevara. Well, sadly, we do have our nut-cases, like our contemporary versions that join the FPM, history will write about them too.

Turkey today is under an evil rule, that of Satan's agent known as Recep Tayeb Erdogan. he is NO Muslim, he is just another radical blinded by hatred. His interference in the Syrian war will without doubt spill over to his Turkey, it's only a question of time. For the good of Turkey, for the good of its people who sacrificed a lot to reach the level of civilized nation under the guidance of Kamal Ataturk, today for such a nation to revert to such obscurantism is an absolute and monumental shame to say the least. I hope that the Turkish military will depose this evil Erdogan and his cabinet of fake ministers, send them to jail, try them and have them hanged as they are full of crimes. Turkey should distance itself from the Syrian war, it stands to lose everything in due time, everything unless Erdogan is kicked out.
