Interior Minister Exonerates Hizbullah

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stressed that Hizbullah was not involved in the bombing that shook Antelias last week and slammed the opposition for criticizing his statements on the blast.

“Hizbullah is innocent and has nothing to do with the bombing,” Charbel told al-Liwaa daily in remarks published Wednesday.

“Would the opposition make me a hero if I accuse the party?” he wondered, asking whether he should have said that the explosion was a terrorist activity.

“I don’t understand why they want to push tourists out of the country,” Charbel said.

The Antelias bombing, which killed two people who were in possession of an explosive device, has ignited a trade of insults between pro-government forces and the opposition.

The March 14-led opposition has labeled the incident a terrorist act and accused the government of covering up for Hizbullah while the Shiite party said that the explosion was the result of a personal financial dispute.

This attitude reminds me of Frangie (minister of interior then) , and Addoum, in 2005 after Hariri was assasinated ! This is an espresso decaf inquiry led by Charbel Holmes ! One can't help think of Aboul Adass, maybe there' s an Aboul Foul (fool!) somewhere this time round....

One more thought: " Interior minister exonerates Hizbollah " . It would have been first of a kind and very funny to say the least, if a minister brought in by Hezbollah adoptive son (GMN General Michel Nasrallah!) , accuses publicly Hezbollah of this explosion! Even M14 hasn' t gone that far thus far !

Chabel had already exonerated Hizbullah even before the two terrorists bodies hit the ground, and he's yet to explain how he got to this conclusion.

Let med get it straight ya Charbel, So the tourists will stay away because of accusations and not because if the 3 bombings spread around Beirut? Very smart minister.
