عين قداسة البابا بينديكتوس السادس عشر، اليوم الاربعاء، البطريرك الماروني مار بشاره بطرس الراعي كاردينالا في الكنيسة الجامعة.
ووجه البابا رسالة التعيين الى الراعي، اليوم الاربعاء، جاء فيها "نعلمكم في هذه الرسالة انه سينعقد مجمع لترقية كرادلة جدد في 24 تشرين الثاني المقبل. ستكون غبطتكم من بين الكرادلة المنتخبين اعضاء جددا في مجمع الكرادلة المقدس".
واعرب البابا عن تقديره لجهود الراعي ونشاطاته في الكنيسة و"نمنحكم هذه الرتبة لكي تعاونونا في هذه الخدمة من اجل خير الكنيسة".
