If the purpose of the "dialogue" is to ease tension, stabilize the country and insure that the 2013 Parliamentary elections occur, the M14 position is a reasonable one. Tensions in the North, questions arising over the political decision of the LAF and therefore the credibility of the LAF being questioned are very serious matters. The LAF should never become exposed to the political disputes that constantly brew. The surest way to restore confidence in the North over the political decision of the Army in the lead up to the election is to form a national unity government.

As the fate of the Assad Regime in Syria hangs in the balance, so does the fate of Hezbollah's continued armed presence in Lebanon. The resolution could move in the direction whereby Hezbollah tries to leverage current status quo into total hegemony which would militate against stability, particularly in the North, or a final reconciliation of Hezbollah's arms within the constitutional institutions of the State. This latter option is likely to strengthen the State and the people's confidence in the State.

Therefore, it is a good idea. I would propose that Mikati lead this cabinet, as he did in 2005, that it be split 5-4 M8 to M14 and that its mandate be written so that its term will expire with the conclusion of the 2013 elections so that the winners of that election will organize the government that is to follow.
