U.S. Posts $10 Million Reward for Qaida Financier

The United States on Thursday offered a $10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of a key al-Qaida fundraiser, who is said to be a Syrian operating from Iran.

The reward for Ezedin Abdel Aziz Khalil marks the first time that a "terrorist financier" has been targeted in such a way, said Robert Hartung, assistant director for threat investigations with the State Department.

U.S. Threatens New International Measures against Syria

5 Killed as Small Plane Crashes on Major U.S. Highway

A small plane heading for Georgia spiraled out of control and crashed Tuesday morning on a major New York-area highway, hitting a wooded median and scattering wreckage across the road. All five people aboard, including two investment bankers, were killed, but no one on the ground was injured.

The pilot had discussed icy conditions with controllers just before the plane went down, but investigators were unsure what role, if any, icing played in the crash.

U.S. Adds 10 Firms in Malta to Iran Sanctions

The United States government hit 10 firms linked to Iran's shipping industry with sanctions on Tuesday, accusing them of helping the Islamic Republic's missile and other military programs.
