Judicial authorities ordered the arrest of two teenaged boys for sexually harassing minors in the northern city of Tripoli, the Internal Security Forces announced on Monday.

"A father reported to the Abi Samra police department on April 20, 2014, that his five year old twin boys were raped by 16 year old Lebanese national N. A. S.,” the ISF communique said.

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale praised on Wednesday the government for the implementation of the security plan in the northern city of Tripoli and the eastern Bekaa region.

He said: “The United States welcomes the government’s success with the plan and Washington stands with the government, the security forces, and the people as they work towards peace.”

The Syndicate Coordination Committee held on Wednesday a protest near the education ministry in Beirut's UNESCO area to pressure MPs into approving the pay hike, as Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab warned that the academic year is “in danger.”

“Official exams are at risk and the academic year is at risk,” Bou Saab said after meeting with a SCC delegation in the afternoon.

Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi confirmed Sunday that Arab Democratic Party leader Rifaat Eid left the country as an unprecedented security plan got underway in Tripoli, reassuring that the northern city will not witness any new round of sectarian violence.

“From now on, there won't be any new round of violence in Tripoli and (former) Prime Minister Saad Hariri is seriously thinking of turning Syria Street into a … piece of art, similar to what martyr premier Rafik Hariri did in Beirut,” Rifi said.

Internal Security Forces announced on Saturday arresting “one of the most dangerous fugitives” and seizing several vehicles in the Bekaa, as the security plan continues to be implemented in the region and in the North.

"Ali Khodr Jaafar, also known as Ali al-Shaar, is one of the most dangerous fugitives and is linked to several kidnapping operations,” an ISF communique detailed, noting that the arrest took place during a security operation in the region.

The Army Intelligence detained on Saturday Arab Democratic Party spokesman Abdul Latif Saleh, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Saleh was released few hours after questioning by the intelligence over his statements.

A demonstration that was planned to take place on Friday to protest the arrest warrants issued against hundreds of the northern city of Tripoli's residents has been called off, after the interference of several political figures.

A group of young men had called via social media platforms for a “mass demonstration” in Abdul Hamid Karami Square in Tripoli after Friday's prayers, to demand withdrawing the arrest warrants issued against hundreds of the city's residents.

The Lebanese army enforced strict measures in the northern city of Tripoli on Thursday to restore calm following overnight gunbattles with gunmen in the neighborhood of Bab al-Tabbaneh.

According to a communique issued by the army command on Thursday, the military is carrying out raids in pursuit of offenders who opened fire at the army and arrest them.

A Syrian, who escaped from Roumieh prison in February, has been arrested by policemen in the northern city of Tripoli, the Internal Security Forces said.

Police apprehended Muhannad Abdul Rahman in Tripoli's al-Qobbeh area at dawn Thursday, the ISF communique said.

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said on Thursday that a large number of security members were transferred from the northern city of Tripoli to the eastern Bekaa valley as the implementation of the security plan reached the zero hour.

“We have transferred hundreds of Internal Security Forces' members and officers to the Bekaa ahead of the enforcement of the security plan in the area,” Mashnouq said in remarks published in An Nahar newspaper.
