Two Danish brothers of Somali origin have been arrested in Denmark suspected of plotting a terror attack, the country's intelligence police PET said Tuesday.

"It is PET's opinion that with the arrests we have avoided a concrete act of terror," PET said in a statement.

Al-Qaida-linked Somali militants vowed Saturday to intensify the war against government and African Union troops, despite the fall of their key stronghold of Afgoye, the latest in a string of military losses.

"God willing we will continue the war and we will win the battle without doubt," said Sheik Abdiaziz Abu Musab, spokesman for the hardline Shebab, a day after AU and Somali troops entered Afgoye, a former strategic rebel base.

A Greek-owned tanker has been hijacked in the Arabian Sea with a cargo of 135,000 tons of crude oil, the operating company said on Friday.

"At approximately 1115 GMT on 10 May, 2012, an oil tanker managed by Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd. was reported hijacked while it was transiting the Arabian Sea," the Athens-based company said.

A mortar shell fired into a crowded Mogadishu neighborhood has killed seven civilians, including two children, witnesses said Tuesday, as continued violence threatens Somalia's fragile peace process.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the shelling late Monday, the latest in a string of attacks in the anarchic capital, where diehard al-Qaida allied Shebab insurgents have launched guerrilla assaults on the government.

A suicide bomber killed at least six people including two lawmakers in an attack in the central Somali town of Dhusamareb, officials said Tuesday.

"The explosion hit a hotel in the town and it killed several people, any others were also injured," said Mohamed Abudlahi Moalim, a senior commander with the Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa militia, which controls the area.

A suicide bomber killed a soldier in the southern Somali town of Baidoa on Tuesday, when he detonated an explosive vest as he tried to enter a government security building, officials said.

"The soldier stopped him and as he carried out a security check, the bomber blew himself up," said Mohamed Samow, a security official.

A bomb blast in a market in the strategic Somali town of Baidoa on Monday killed at least 11 people and wounded many more in the latest in a string of attacks in the war-torn nation, an official said.

"At least 11 people -- most of them women and children -- were killed by a bomb placed in a busy market," said lawmaker Mohamed Ibrahim Habsade.

Authorities in Somalia's breakaway region of Somaliland arrested four French nationals who crossed into the territory from neighboring Djibouti, a government official said.

The four, among them women, were arrested on Thursday while driving in Bariisle village near the border and later handed back to Djibouti authorities.

Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohammed Ali told Agence France Presse Friday that a suicide attack this week at Mogadishu's national theatre where he was giving an address was an attempt to assassinate him.

Four people, including Somalia's Olympic committee chief and the football federation president, were killed Wednesday when a female suicide bomber blew herself up at the newly reopened theatre.
