At least 11 people have been killed and several others wounded in fighting between rival clans in Wajir in Kenya's remote northeast, police said Friday.

The fighting broke out on Thursday when the attackers raided a settlement of the local Degodia clan. Kenyan media reports said the attack was believed to have been carried out by a militia from the rival Garre clan.

The United Nation's children's agency said Tuesday that 200,000 children may die of starvation this year in war-ravaged Somalia if it does not raise enough funds to provide vital aid.

"If funding is not received immediately, UNICEF will have to suspend essential life-saving health services within one month," spokesman Christophe Boulierac said.

A Turkish Airlines security coordinator in Mogadishu was killed in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday, officials said.

"A vehicle carrying Turkish Airlines staff in Mogadishu came under attack," Turkish Airlines spokesman Ali Genc wrote on Twitter, naming the victim as Saadettin Dogan.

Two Kenyan soldiers were killed Monday when militants from Somalia's Shebab rebels ambushed a military convoy near Lamu on the Kenya-Somalia border, reports said.

The soldiers were attacked while transporting food supplies to a military camp across the border, the Nation newspaper said, adding that several other soldiers were also wounded.

Somalia's national security minister has resigned in the wake of a brazen attack by Shebab militants on the country's parliament, officials said Sunday.

The resignation came hours after the Al-Qaida-linked militants set off powerful car bombs outside the gates of the parliament and a group of fighters armed with explosive vests, grenades and machine guns stormed in while scores of MPs were meeting.

The U.S. government on Saturday condemned a "cowardly" Shebab rebel attack in Somalia that left at least 10 people dead.

"The United States strongly condemns today's Al-Shebab attack on the Somali parliament," said the U.S. State Department's deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf.

Somalia's Shebab rebels launched a brazen attack on the national parliament Saturday, setting off a car bomb and storming the building with suicide commandos, leaving at least ten dead, police and witnesses said.

Security sources said the "complex attack" -- involving bombs and gunmen with suicide vests -- was finally brought to an end after more than four hours by Somali security forces and African Union troops.
