Eleven people were killed and one person is seriously injured after a plane crashed at a parachute club close to Czestochowa, in the south of Poland, a spokeswoman for the emergency services said.

"Twelve people were on board the plane and the only survivor was taken to hospital and is in a serious condition," Justyna Sochacka told Agence France Presse.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked parliament Wednesday for an immediate vote of confidence in his coalition amid a high-profile bugging scandal that has prompted calls for his center-right government to resign.

"Without this mandate, I will not be effective, the government will not be able to clarify the bugging affair in a satisfactory manner and keep a handle on state interests," he told parliament after requesting the vote that is expected later Wednesday.

The Polish news magazine behind the report has for days been releasing juicy exchanges between top Polish politicians -- including a U.S. snub and controversial central bank talks -- that it said were caught on secret recordings it had obtained.

A Polish magazine said on Sunday it had secret audio recordings of the foreign minister blasting Warsaw's ties with the U.S. as "worthless", the latest leak in a bugging scandal that has rocked the government.

The Wprost news magazine set off a political storm last week when it released audio suggesting the government had cut a deal with the central bank to boost the budget and garner political support.

NATO on Monday launched one of its largest military maneuvers in the Baltic states since tensions spiked with neighboring Russia over its annexation of Ukraine's Crimean peninsula.

U.S. President Barack Obama will visit Poland in June as part of a European tour that will also include stops in France and Belgium, Vice President Joe Biden announced Wednesday.

The visit to Poland comes as Washington tries to allay the concerns of its allies over the escalating crisis in neighboring Ukraine. 

Four Danish F-16 warplanes landed in Estonia on Wednesday, marking the first time NATO planes will be stationed in the ex-Soviet state and Russian neighbor. 

The aircraft and a supporting team of 60 people arrived at the Amari air base in the west of the Baltic state at a time when NATO is reinforcing its presence in the region to allay concerns triggered by the Ukraine crisis.
