United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka on Thursday warmly welcomed “the handover of letters delineating the maritime boundary between Lebanon and Israel following successful U.S. mediation, under the leadership of Special Presidential Coordinator Amos Hochstein.”
“This is a historic achievement at many levels. I hope it will serve as a confidence-building measure that promotes more security and stability in the region and economic benefits for both countries,” said the Special Coordinator who received the signed maritime coordinates from both sides at the UNIFIL premises in Naqoura. The Special Coordinator will deposit the documents at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.

Hezbollah will end an "exceptional" mobilization against Israel after threatening to attack for months, its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Thursday after Lebanon and Israel struck a maritime border deal.
"All the exceptional and special measures and mobilization carried out by the resistance for several months are now declared over," Nasrallah said in a televised speech, calling the agreement a "very big victory for Lebanon and its state, people and resistance."

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein met Thursday in Baabda with President Michel Aoun, in the presence of Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab and Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib.
"I truly believe and hope this can be an economic turning point in Lebanon for a new era of investment and continued support to lift up the economy," Hochstein said, before leaving Baabda to the Grand Serail where he met with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib announced Wednesday that “there are no complications regarding the discussions for sea border demarcation with Syria.
“We will agree with the Syrians on another date for the beginning of the border demarcation talks,” Bou Habib added, in remarks to Al-Jazeera TV.

U.S. Special Presidential Coordinator Amos Hochstein will travel to Lebanon Thursday to finalize the “historic agreement to establish a permanent maritime boundary between Lebanon and Israel,” the U.S. State Department said.
In Beirut, Hochstein will meet with President Michel Aoun, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Najib Mikati to “extend his gratitude to each for the consultative and open spirit demonstrated throughout the negotiations, the foundations of which were created under Speaker Berri’s leadership by the 2020 Framework,” the State Department said in a statement.

Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati swiftly hit back Tuesday at remarks by Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil.
A statement issued by Mikati’s press office said the premier “regrets the tense remarks” of Bassil “at a critical political moment that requires cooperation among everyone, not the launching of arbitrary accusations and stances and the use of confrontational and provocative expressions.”

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil announced Tuesday that the FPM “will exert more efforts” and “will give more hours for the attempt to avoid vacuum,” in reference to the stalled government formation process and the looming presidential vacuum.
“Those who think that the caretaker cabinet will assume the president’s powers are mistaken, seeing as this is a violation of the constitution,” Bassil said at a press conference after the weekly meeting of the Strong Lebanon bloc.

The Lebanese Customs Administration announced Tuesday that around 160,000 captagon pills were seized Monday at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport.
In a statement, Customs said the narcotics were seized in cooperation with the Airport Security Apparatus.
