There is no positive progress regarding a ceasefire in Lebanon, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, in remarks published Wednesday.

Hezbollah's acting leader Naim Qassem had said in a defiant televised speech earlier this week that Hezbollah backs efforts by Berri to reach a ceasefire.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described Israel's military offensive in Lebanon as an "invasion" on Wednesday, saying that the international community had to act.

"It is clear that there has been an invasion by a third country of a sovereign state such as Lebanon, and therefore the international community cannot remain indifferent," the Socialist premier told parliament.

The Lebanese Health Ministry said at least four people were killed in an Israeli strike in Iqlim al-Kharroub on a hotel-turned-shelter for displaced people in southern Lebanon.

Ten others were wounded in the strike that hit the building in Wardanieh in Lebanon’s Chouf district north of Sidon.

The European Union said Wednesday it had launched a "humanitarian air bridge" to fly aid to Lebanon as fighting rages between Israel and Hezbollah.

The European Commission said three initial flights were scheduled to carry supplies from Italy and Dubai to the conflict-wracked country, with the first arriving in Beirut on Friday.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday announced that “the Arab and international efforts are still ongoing to halt the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.”

Turkish navy ships docked at a port in Beirut on Wednesday as a part of a mission to bring humanitarian aid to Lebanon and evacuate Turkish citizens.

Two of the ships, which can accommodate up to 2,000 passengers, were carrying up to 300 tons of humanitarian aid consisting of food, tents and blankets, according to a statement from the Turkish Defense Ministry.

The United States is seeking to reach "comprehensive pacification" in the region, in an unannounced move revealed by Israel's Channel 12.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for talks that were expected to cover efforts to end fighting between the Israeli military and Iran-backed groups in Gaza and Lebanon.

"I hope that these consultations can lead to better conditions for Palestine and Lebanon and establish peace in the region," Araghchi told Iranian state television upon his arrival in Riyadh.

After narrowly escaping Israeli air strikes, Lebanese mother Tanaz Agha shared a picture taken from her plane window as she flew out of Beirut.

"Proud to be a Lebanese who can travel on my national airline in a time of war," the 46-year-old says she told her friends on social media.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy warned on Wednesday that countries "must not waver" as they work towards ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, as he visited two regional allies.

Lammy, who will hold talks with leaders in Bahrain and Jordan and meet UK armed forces personnel currently stationed in the Middle East, called the situation there "incredibly dangerous."
