A Japanese woman has accused an Indian tourist guide of drugging and then raping her in the historic city of Jaipur, police said Monday, the latest in a series of sex attacks on foreigners.

The 20-year-old said the guide offered to show her around Jaipur, famous for its grand palaces and forts, on Sunday before assaulting her on the outskirts of the "Pink City" in the evening.

The 20-year-old told police the guide offered to show her around Jaipur on his motorbike on Sunday before attacking her in an isolated part of the city in the evening, the officer said.

India, Pakistan Suspend Trade on Kashmir Border

India and Pakistan have suspended trade across their de facto border in the disputed territory of Kashmir after Indian authorities detained a truck driver accused of drug trafficking, Pakistan officials said Sunday.

Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since the two countries won independence from Britain in 1947. Both claim the scenic Himalayan territory in full.

Police in southern India were Friday searching for a man suspected of raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl, in the latest shocking sex attack in the country. 

Superintendent B. Ramesh said they are hunting a man in his early 20s, captured on CCTV, who is thought to have bitten the child's genitalia before smothering her to death.

Police Free Indians Caught in Syria Infiltration Bid

Indian authorities have released nine people who had been deported from Turkey after allegedly trying to enter an area of Syria controlled by the Islamic State militant group, police said Monday.

Police in the southern city of Bangalore said the nine Indians were released late Sunday, after they admitted during questioning that they had planned to cross over to territory controlled by IS but denied being members of the organization, which is banned in India.
