The New York Knicks produced another authoritative performance to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 110-88 on Monday, bringing up their first 3-0 start to a season for 13 years.

Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points and JR Smith had 17 for New York, which is showing its season-opening win over the Miami Heat was no fluke, cruising to another victory. The sum total of their winning margins over the first three games is 58 points.

Police: Hulk's Sister Possibly Kidnapped in Brazil

Brazilian police said Monday they are investigating the possible kidnapping of the younger sister of Brazil striker Hulk.

Authorities said 22-year-old Angelica Aparecida Vieira de Sousa has been missing since Monday afternoon after being left in front of a restaurant in the northeastern city of Campina Grande. A person who was with her at the time told police that he thinks she was kidnapped.

Apple Paid Only 1.9 Pct Tax on Earnings Outside U.S.

Apple Inc. paid an income tax rate of only 1.9 percent on its earnings outside the U.S. in its latest fiscal year, a regulatory filing by the company shows.

The world's most valuable company paid $713 million in tax on foreign earnings of $36.8 billion in the fiscal year ended Sept. 29, according to the financial statement filed on Oct. 31. The foreign earnings were up 53 percent from fiscal 2011, when Apple earned $24 billion outside the U.S. and paid income tax of 2.5 percent on it.

Surgery Seems Best for Heart Disease in Diabetics

New research shows that people with diabetes and several clogged heart arteries fare better with bypass surgery instead of having stents placed to prop open their blood vessels.

Doctors compared the treatments in a study of 1,900 diabetics and looked five years later to see how many had suffered a heart attack, stroke or death. Only 19 percent of the bypass group had, versus 27 percent of those given stents.

Suarez's Goal Gives Liverpool Draw with Newcastle

Often slated for his theatrics, Luis Suarez stood out for the right reasons Sunday with a brilliant equalizer for Liverpool in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle in the Premier League.

Steven Gerrard made his 600th appearance for Liverpool but was overshadowed at Anfield by Suarez, who produced a wonderful piece of skill to bring down a raking pass on his chest and round the goalkeeper in one movement to earn his team a deserved point in the 67th minute.

Spain's Registered Jobless Up 128,000 in October

The Labor Ministry says the number of people registered as unemployed in Spain jumped by 128,242 people in October as the country's recession continues to take its toll.

The ministry said in a statement Monday that a little over 4.83 million were registered as jobless at the end of last month, an increase of 2.7 percent on September.
