NASA Astronauts on Spacewalk to Fix Ammonia Leak

NASA astronauts on Saturday performed an emergency spacewalk to try to stop ammonia from leaking from the International Space Station's power system, NASA television showed.

During the spacewalk, expected to last six and a half hours, flight engineers Tom Marshburn and Chris Cassidy will inspect and possibly repair the ammonia leak that affected the U.S. segment of the orbiting laboratory on Thursday.

U.S. Approves Once-a-Day Inhaler from Glaxo

The Food and Drug Administration says it has approved a new once-a-day inhaler drug from GlaxoSmithKline for patients with chronic lung disease.

The agency cleared the Breo Ellipta inhaler for long-term use and to control flare-ups in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, often called smoker's cough. The lung ailment can cause a number of breathing problems, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

200 Sickened after Dining at Vegas Restaurant

A new report says 200 people reported food poisoning symptoms after dining at one of Las Vegas' most popular restaurants.

Southern Nevada Health District data released Friday show the salmonella outbreak at the Firefly restaurant in late April was more extensive than previously thought. An earlier report showed nearly 90 people sick.

A California woman who slapped a police officer to get arrested got her wish to go to jail in hopes she can quit smoking there.

Etta Mae Lopez pleaded no contest Thursday to smacking Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Matt Campoy earlier this week after he left the main jail at the end of his shift.

Rare Coins Worth Millions Displayed in New Orleans

Coin enthusiasts are getting a glimpse of more than $100 million worth of rare money, including some of the crown jewels of money collecting at the National Money Show in New Orleans.

Among the attractions are two exceedingly rare 1913 Liberty Head nickels valued at more than $5 million. One was hidden in a Virginia closet for four decades before selling at auction last month for $3.17 million. The other was frequently carried in the pocket of a former owner from Wisconsin so he could show it to strangers.

Cyprus Exempts Capital Controls on 2 Lebanese Banks

Cyprus authorities have dropped controls on money transfers and withdrawals for international clients of four foreign banks with branches or subsidiaries in the bailed-out country.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement Friday that the exemption extends to the Cyprus branches of Lebanon's BLOM Bank, the Lebanese and Gulf Bank, Russia's OJSC Promsvyazbank and Russian Commercial Bank.

China Mine Accident Kills 22

An accidental explosion at a coal mine in southwest China killed 22 miners on Saturday, state media said, in the latest deadly incident to hit the country's troubled industry.

Nine others were trapped after the blast at the Taozigou coal mine in Sichuan Province, Xinhua reported, citing the country's work safety authorities. At the time of the accident at 2:00 pm, 108 miners were underground, the report said.
