U2 frontman Bono and a long list of world leaders will attend next week's Global Citizen Festival to help fight poverty.

Unemployment Rates Rise in a Third of U.S. States

Unemployment rose in 18 U.S. states last month as many reported cutting jobs. Weaker hiring across states could add to worries about the tepid job market.

The Labor Department says unemployment rates fell in 17 state states and were unchanged in 15. Employers added jobs in 29 states, the fewest since March. And 20 states reported job losses, the most since March.

Researchers Turn to Cannons to Save Elusive Birds

Three cannons explode on a deserted Cape Cod beach, unleashing a startling cloud of white smoke and sand. In tandem, projectiles erupt from the ground, flinging a net over a group of elusive shorebirds known as red knots.

Canals Run Dry at Venetian in Vegas for 1st Time
