Fadlallah says Hezbollah ready to recognize achievements but warns state against 'confronting its people'
MP Hassan Fadlallah of Hezbollah noted Thursday that Israel “has not withdrawn from any meter it has occupied in south Lebanon,” despite the declared start of the pilot zones process.
"What happened was the Lebanese Army strengthening its deployment in liberated villages and towns that the enemy failed to occupy thanks to the blood of our martyrs and the sacrifices of our resistance fighters. The Lebanese Army can deploy among its people and community and reinforce its presence; no one is preventing it from doing so," Fadlallah added.
"When the army tried to move slightly beyond the liberated borders in Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, the enemy opened fire on it. The enemy then announced with brazen arrogance -- and amid official Lebanese silence -- that the Lebanese Army had advanced 100 meters forward, despite the fact that the army was moving on Lebanese soil and the enemy army is the occupier," Fadlallah noted.
"What happened in Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh involved no Israeli withdrawal whatsoever. This government did not need to put on these charades to present what happened as an achievement, for it is a illusionary accomplishment," the lawmaker said.
He however announced that "if anyone delivers an actual achievement, we stand ready to recognize it as such."
“This government operates on the principle of legitimizing the Israeli occupation and its presence, while linking an Israeli withdrawal to the notion of disarming the Resistance," Fadlallah added.
He pointed out that "those making commitments to the United States and drafting plans to disarm this resistance are merely selling illusions to the U.S. administration.”
“They will spend the rest of their constitutional tenures counting days, nights, months, and years without achieving a single objective aimed at targeting any element of our strength," he stressed.
"The enemy tried through fire and iron to disarm this resistance and it failed. Will a few individuals in power manage to do so? In what world, and on which planet, are those denying reality living?" Fadlallah wondered.
"Accordingly, these commitments (made by the Lebanese state) carry no value for us. Our resistance remains a necessity and a national requirement, and we will remain steadfast in holding onto it until we liberate our land, protect our country, and honor the blood of our martyrs," he went on to say.
"The principles we operate by are: the withdrawal of the enemy from our land, the return of displaced persons, reconstruction, and the release of prisoners. If the government manages to achieve even a single objective among these headings, we will acknowledge it as an achievement. But so far, it has delivered nothing," Fadlallah noted.
He warned that Lebanese are authorities are “driving the country internally toward internal tensions and clashes, pushing in various directions to provoke an internal conflict.”
“For our part in Hezbollah, we avoid internal conflict; we care deeply about our country and our civil peace. We constantly warn this government: do not push our people into a confrontation, for no authority in Lebanon will emerge victorious if it drives its people into conflict," Fadlallah cautioned.
He pointed out that Hezbollah is “avoiding an internal clash” out of concern for the country, not out of “weakness, retreat, or a lack of popular support.”
“Some officials sitting in their palaces assume that the resistance's community has weakened and that Iran will weaken, but they are delusional, building their positions on dreams and illusions," he added.
"The primary bet will remain on the regional umbrella taking shape in the region, even amidst these American attacks" on Iran, Fadlallah said.
"Ultimately, no matter how long the attacks last, the Americans will return to an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the first clause of that agreement will be Lebanon," he suggested.
"We are confident in the stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran that there will be no regional agreement, nor any final deal, without a full Israeli withdrawal from our land. This is a strong and enduring expectation, and it is where our hopes lie," Fadlallah said.
"At the same time, above all else, we rely on God. Simultaneously, we rely on the will and steadfastness of our people, as well as on our resistance, its constant presence, and its continuation in the field," the Hezbollah legislator added.
