Ex-MP Hbous Succumbs to Injuries
Former Tripoli MP Ahmed Hbous died on Thursday, more than a week after he was hospitalized for accidentally shooting himself, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Hbous, a Alawite, was handling his gun on July 30 when the bullet struck his face.
The ex-lawmaker underwent surgery at the Albert Haykal Hospital in the northern district of Koura the same day.
But he succumbed to his wounds on Thursday, NNA said.
LBCI television said last week that the bullet traveled from his eye and then lodged in his head.
Hbous was elected to parliament in 1996, representing the Alawite seat in Tripoli.
