Moussawi: Rejecting Dialogue Means Engaging in Various Forms of Conflict

Hizbullah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Nawwaf al-Moussawi warned Sunday that “ruling out (national) dialogue means seeking the other option, which is to transform disagreement into a conflict that may take various forms.”

“Lebanon’s pluralistic nature necessitates that dialogue be an ordinary and normal thing,” Moussawi added.

“Those who are rejecting dialogue are in fact reflecting their authoritarian and autocratic nature and they don’t actually believe in Lebanese pluralism. They want the domination of one opinion and one stance in Lebanon, that’s why they see no use in dialogue,” the Hizbullah lawmaker added, referring to the rival March 14 camp.

“Those voices which are rejecting dialogue are revealing the scheme of tyranny and saying ‘you either be like me or you’re a coup perpetrator who is not eligible to be a partner in this country’,” Moussawi went on to say.

The March 14 general-secretariat said Wednesday that national dialogue became useless after the Syria-Hizbullah alliance decided on behalf of the Lebanese to prevent the State from owning arms.

“Dialogue became useless after three years of time wasting and after the regional-local axis decided on behalf of the Lebanese what their State should not possess,” the general-secretariat said following its weekly meeting.
